Ben Read in conversation with Jolyon Drury (27th March)
- Date
- Thursday 27 March 2014
The eminent art historian Ben Read will be joined by Jolyon Drury, grandson of Alfred Drury. They will lead an evening of discussion and questions on the life and work of Alfred Drury RA (1856-1944), the subject of the current exhibition in the Stanley and Audrey Burton Gallery. Looking at his artistic output and prominence at the outset of the 20th century, they will consider the subsequent fall in recognition of this once significant sculptor, whilst also providing enlightening contextual information about Drury's contemporaries and his patrons.
Refreshments available from 6.00pm in the Parkinson Court in front of the gallery.
Tickets from the gallery desk (or online at http://library.leeds.ac.uk/events/410/event/196/) are £2 for FUAM members and £3 for others.
